Selling add-ons (optional extras)

Offer paid extras alongside a class — merchandise, certificates, or a per-session sibling fee — priced per class or per session.

Add-ons are optional paid extras a booker can add to their booking — a printed certificate, a club T-shirt, materials, or something like "bring a sibling". You build a catalogue of add-ons once, attach the ones you want to each class, and bookers tick them on the booking form. The add-on price is added to the class price at checkout.

Where add-ons live

Add-ons are managed at the company level under the Add-ons tab in your dashboard — that's your reusable catalogue. You then attach add-ons to individual classes from the Add-ons card on each class's detail page. An add-on can be attached to as many classes as you like.

Creating an add-on

  1. Open the Add-ons tab in your dashboard and click "Create add-on".
  2. Give it a name (e.g. "Certificate" or "Add a sibling") and, optionally, a description.
  3. Set the price.
  4. Choose the pricing type — Per class or Per session (see below).
  5. Optionally set an inventory limit, and add photos in the gallery.
  6. Save, then attach it to the classes you want from each class's Add-ons card.

Per-class vs per-session pricing

Each add-on is priced one of two ways, set on the add-on's detail page under "Pricing":

  • **Per class** — one flat charge for the whole booking, no matter how many sessions the class has or how many the booker attends. Best for one-off items like a badge, a certificate, or a T-shirt.
  • **Per session** — the price is charged for each session the booker is paying for. Best for a recurring extra like a per-session sibling fee.

How the per-session multiplier is worked out:

  • Whole-class booking — the add-on is charged for every session in the class. A £2 per-session add-on on a 6-session class adds £12.
  • Pay-as-you-go booking — the add-on is charged only for the sessions the booker picks. If they pick 3 of the 6 sessions, that same £2 add-on adds £6.
  • Joining mid-way — if a booker joins a class that's already started (mid-session booking), the add-on is charged for the remaining sessions only, matching how the pro-rata class price works.

Tip

The classic use for per-session pricing is "add a sibling": a small extra fee for each session a sibling comes along to, rather than one flat fee for the whole term.

Limiting stock (inventory)

Add-ons are unlimited by default. To cap how many you'll sell — say you only have 20 T-shirts — set "Limited to N" on the add-on's detail page. When the limit is reached the add-on shows as "Sold out" on the booking form and can't be selected.

  • "Sold" counts one per booking, and the count releases automatically if a booking is cancelled, declined, or its payment times out.
  • For per-session add-ons the limit is still a headcount — one per booking — not one per session. A cap of 20 means up to 20 bookings can include it, regardless of how many sessions each covers.
  • To restock, just raise the "Limited to N" number and save.

How add-ons appear once attached

  • Booking form — bookers see the add-ons under the class, with per-session ones labelled "£X / session". The total updates live as they tick add-ons (and, for pay-as-you-go, as they pick sessions).
  • Confirmation and admin emails — each add-on is itemised. Per-session add-ons read as "£X × N sessions".
  • Booking detail, the class register, and manual bookings — all show the add-ons a booker took, with the per-session breakdown where relevant.

Discounts and refunds

  • Vouchers and multi-class discounts apply to the class price only — never to add-ons.
  • The standard refund flow refunds the class price and excludes add-ons. If you need to refund an add-on, contact the booker and arrange it separately. See the Refunds article.

Duplicating an add-on

Use the actions menu on an add-on to duplicate it — handy for a set of similar items. The copy keeps the price, pricing type, description, and images; you just adjust what's different.
